National Association of Evangelicals Now Corrupt and Should be Rejected! By Dr. Don Boys Ellen Boys, Editor © 2003 Cornerstone Communications Well the National Association of Evangelicals finally proved itself to be what astute people knew it always was: a hodgepodge of theological lightweights (with a few heavyweights), philosophical cripples, and devotees of political correctness. In 1941, Evangelical leaders refused to associate with the conservative American Council of Christian Churches but formed the NAE in 1942. The National Council of Churches was a nest of liberals, socialists, heretics, and Communists so evangelicals did have the savvy and courage to refuse identification with that radical leftist group. However, the ACC was too aggressive and militant for them, so the NAE took the middle road with the motto, "cooperation without compromise." Now their recent decision proves that their motto should be "cooperation with compromise." All group members of the NAE (51 denominations and 43,000 individual churches such as the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian Church in America, the Wesleyan Church, Church of God (Cleveland, TN), the Assembly of God, the Conservative Baptist Association, Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton College, Campus Crusade, etc., should hand-deliver a letter of disassociation with the NAE since it aligned itself with theological error on May 7. The NAE condemned anti-Islamic statements by Franklin Graham, Jerry Vines, etc., as being "dangerous" and "unhelpful." Not one person asked, "But were their statements truthful?" Doesn't truth matter anymore to the NAE? Doesn't II John 9-11 apply anymore? John commands: "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God .If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." Most informed people would agree that Muslims do not abide "in the doctrine of Christ." NEA Compromiser-in-Chief, Ted Haggard said, "We must temper our speech." No, Ted, I suggest we speak the truth in love about Islam. Love without truth will consign people to hell. Oops, that's a word on the Forbidden Word List of political correctness. The NEA issued the "loving rebuke" of anti-Muslim (read, Pro-Christian) leaders for their remarks that "tarnished" American Christians; however, the NAE has tarnished Christians for many years. They have preached toleranceexcept tolerance for Bible-believing Christians often called, "Fundamentalists!" Fundamentalists are Christians that the NAE loves to hate! The NAE leaders refused to be associated with the NCC but recently approved duel membership in the NAE and the NCC! And when the pope visited the U.S. the NAE president was sitting at the pope's feet. We are not told that he kissed the pope's ring or knelt before him. That compromise was followed by the NAE permitting an official Roman Catholic observer at its convention in 1996! Of course, many evangelicals endorsed and signed the 1994, "Evangelicals and Catholics Together," a kind of peace treaty that I call the "Back to Rome" agreement. That agreement basically said that what you believe about the Bible, salvation, and worship really doesn't matter! So let's all climb in bed together. President Haggard wants Bible preachers to temper their speech but did not call for Muslim clerics to temper their "dangerous" and "unhelpful" speech when they call Jews, "pigs" and "monkeys" and the deity of Christ and the Trinity are ridiculed. Other Muslim clerics frequently call for holy war with "infidels." Haggard might consider condemning those clerics, but that might disturb the bridge-building he, Bill Hybels, Robert Schuller, and other compromisers are erecting. It is commendable that some Muslims want to come in off the desert and live peacefully with civilized people, and most Americans will accept them if they repudiate the slaughter of millions of non-Muslims from the seventh century to September 11. However, I will not permit Muslims to rewrite history purporting to show Islam as a "peaceful religion hijacked by a few extremists," to make them feel more comfortable in a civilized world. The NAE, to be true to the Bible, should state what all educated people know to be true: *Islam is a mishmash of Christianity, Judaism, and paganism. *The Koran is not true to the Old or New Testament but contains numerous historical, biblical, and scientific mistakes and often presents incredible absurdities as revealed truth. *Mohammed had more than 800 Jewish men beheaded after the Battle of the Trench. *Mohammed took a six-year-old wife and consummated the marriage when she was nine as attested to by that "wife" and many historians. *The Koran and Haditih denigrate women giving them one half the status of men and even give permission for men to beat their wives. All right Compromiser-in-Chief, if the above is trueand it can be easily proved by spending a couple of hours in a good librarythen are you and the NAE not tarnishing all American Christians by waltzing around the truth in the name of political correctness? Let me suggest that the NAE leaders know that the above is true but everyone has agreed not to recognize it as true! It is not polite to be truthful anymore! However, it is still Christian. I suggest that Ted and other NAE leaders do the principled thing and turn in their ordination credentials, resign their church positions, and get a job driving a cab. If not, I am sure principled pastors will lead their groups out of the NAE and if that does not happen surely millions of Christians will flee NAE-affiliated churches as if their hair were on fire. Maybe it is time for all church leaders who profess to believe the Bible to "come out from among them" and become unaffiliated as were the New Testament churches. That way each church leader can speak for himself and his church without a Compromiser-in-Chief spouting senseless, silly, and Un-Scriptural drivel. We shall see if truth still matters.
